A Letter from Chuck Brown, UBR2 Winner

Hi All,

Some of you have been following my very lucky event of winning a 2010, BMW S1000RR from Bob's BMW in Baltimore, Maryland. The grand prise in his Ultimate Bike Rally 2 for the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation. Well, I flew back this last weekend to receive it. I had a wonderful time and was treated fantastically. Great people at Bob's and I felt I had met long lost friends.
I have to admit I was very nervous when I was handed the keys to drive away the first time. Sweaty palms for sure. Man, what a great bike! Much easier the ride than I thought. Smooth and loads of controllable power.
Saturday was the shops open house and I received many, many handshakes and pats on the bike. "One lucky guy, for sure."
The picture shows Charlie Goss handing me the keys. One heck of an exciting moment.
Now, just for those of you who wonder how I'll get it home. (Yes, many have offered to drive it for me.) It should leave this Friday on a truck and arrive the week of May 10th at Tri-Valley Motors in Livermore. My BMW shop.

Thanks to Bob Henig and all his great staff for making the trip so enjoyable.

Take care,
Chuck Brown

As w as done in 2008 for the original Ultimate Bike Raffle names were drawn in reverse order starting with the last prize and building up to the Grand Prize in the UBR2. There were 187 individual tickets sold and 697 $100 t-shirts sold that included 2091 tickets for a grand total of 2,278 UBR2 tickets in the actual raffle drawing. But it’s the odds that count and basically it meant that the actual odds (and I’m not a statistician) of winning were about 1 in 884 or better because there were actually quite a few people that purchased more than one $100 t-shirt during the year, in fact at least one person purchased $700 in tickets alone on seven visits to the dealership including while attending the Gala! If you consider that we had seven (7) prizes to award I believe that the odds were actually about 1 in 127 and that’s pretty good numbers for a chance at just about anything these days.

So on Saturday night at 10:30 PM EST we pulled the 7 tickets and announced the names and what they won. Now that I have called everyone and have permission to share their names and their home state here are the lucky winners. Thanks again to everyone who participated and helped us raise so much money for a worthy cause.

Chuck Brown, our Grand Prize winner.
Talk about a lucky guy, while he awaits delivery (here) of his new toy he's riding with Jim Hyde and the crew at the Dakar race!

BTW, Chuck is the guy in the flipped up full face helmet third from the right in the group photo.

Bob and Paige appeared on WMAR last week to promote the Ultimate Bike Raffle 2 and the upcoming gala. She is about to celebrate her 6th birthday and she's a 5 year survivor as a result of the efforts and money you and others have helped us turn over to the PBTF over the years. Please mark your calendars for September 26, 2010 for next years Baltimore-Washington Ride for Kids where you can get your own hugs for doing good. Thanks in advance for your generosity.
